What you will learn in the CQ1 Workshop:
Fredrik Wieland, an Application Specialist at Yokogawa, is passionate about imaging and regenerative medicine. Currently pursuing a PhD on The role of endothelial cells in the self-assembly of bioengineered islets, he combines his expertise in autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and type 1 diabetes mellitus, with advanced single-cell techniques. His research focuses on how endothelial cells contribute to the organization and function of bioengineered islets—clusters of alpha and beta cells that mimic pancreatic islets. By leveraging high-content imaging and spatial analysis, Fredrik aims to improve the potential of bioengineered islets in regenerative medicine and contribute to better treatments for type 1 diabetes.
